To acquaint participants with the basics of effective communication and provide them with an opportunity to exercise those skills, to familiarize participants with the role and responsibility of the media in the local community, including how to deal with the media and use it effectively, and to create an awareness of the various communications mechanisms including but not limited to: print media, radio, television, magazines, direct mail, internet, and telecommunications. To provide an overview of the cultural and ethnic diversity that makes up the community today and how that will change in the future.
